I am a swimmer! Motorized boats were banned from waldo lake because SWIMMERS were reporting that the water tasted like FUEL. I've swam in lakes that taste like boat fuel and it's disgusting. It leaves you with a headache. You really want children swimming in boat fuel? Motorized boaters can go almost anywhere. The rule is not keeping motorized *boaters* out. Just their boats. The water is still open to everyone, so that is the lamest argument I've heard. "Waldo lake should be open to everyone". IT. IS. Have you ever tried forming a camping trip around only two personal requirements--those requirements being 1. go to a lake, and 2. a lake without MOTORIZED BOATS? Well, this is pretty much the only lake in oregon that does not allow motorized boats. I often find myself going to Canada just to get to one. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE MOTORIZED BOATERS! You only have every other lake in the country.

Waldo is a very special gem that should be protected from gas motors (electric motors are allowed for those that need motors). Keep Waldo quiet and pollution free!! Gas motored people have plenty of options, why do these people need to spoil everything special?

I agree. If you're going to close them, close them period. Don't discriminate. Mountain bikes have also gotten faster and more powerful with aggressive tread patterns. Hiking boots have large lugs and if someone slips they'll rip the vegetation out and scare the animals. Just close it all down to everyone across the boards.

Joshua tree... you should get your facts straight before you put things on the internet... Research when and why the wolves were put into eastern oregon. find out exactly what they are doing to the people who live in and around my home. unless you are seeing it personally you will have no clue what my friends and family are going through. if you were in the position that the people in this area have been put into you would feel the same way. I do not condone killing an animal just for the sake of killing it. but when they are stalking livestock, pets, people that I know personally, and scaring people all over eastern oregon, something needs to be done. and if the state will not control this situation, more than likely the people will take things into their own hands.

Mr Newman How do you sort out the 'Junk Science' from 'Real (peer reviewed)Science/Articles? My guess that over the years myths have become validated based on nothing but passage of time!

Thank You

The article on Olympia Oysters has the most important last, in my opinion, because the answer I'm looking for deals with Native Oysters not Pacific/Olympia Oysters! My question is: Where (if any) documentation on the earliest Oysters, did they migrate here in the Pacific N/W? Were they introduced by Foreign Ships of long ago Mariners? Were they a stable to the diet of local Indians? Most of the 'mittens' I've observed at the 'Indian digs' are clam shells, where are the Oyster Shells? Any information will be helpful because of a 'conservancy' of putting a pipe line via the Native(?)Oyster Beds!

Thank you

You have to be joking....the BIG diesel polluters are the trains in Eugene Oregon! They get away with idling those damn engines for hours and hours straight, sometimes ALL night long!!! FOR 4 and 5 days straight!!!!! Look around at the people here, many are disabled!
Young and old! Many are in motorized chairs, many have hoses up their noses, hence, OXYGEN, many have asthma, balding, many have blind guide poles, hence Retina problems, liver and kidney disease...Eugene is a Dr.s goldmine! Burning lungs, burning eyes, throat, mouth!
How criminal!!! ALL they wold have to do is turn their damn engines OFF and not let the idle pumping exhaust diesel fumes and smoke into the air....It is in ALL of Eugene, not just over near the tracks....THERE is never a good air day in EUGENE!!! It is the dirtiest, filthiest, most polluted town EVER!!! The people are the proof!!! Such nonsense!!! Get off your asses and do something about this major problem!!! Here it is 2011 and it is still BAD!!!!

Developing a biomass plant in Klamath Falls is not a step forward, but a step back. Does any resident of Klamath Falls want to be breathing in smoke all the time? What about our kids? Negative results from 24/7 burning are numerous. Stand up against biomass!
