Water, Parks and Wildlife Measure Approved For November

Coming to you in November, a ballot measure that will protect a major source of money for Oregon state parks, river restoration and wildlife habitat.

Known as the Water, Parks and Wildlife measure, it was certified today for the ballot by the Secretary of State’s office.

200,000 Strong: Park Supporters Turn In Names For Ballot Measure

One of the biggest environmental ballot measures in Oregon history is in good shape for this fall.

Supporters of the Water, Parks and Wildlife measure say they turned almost 200,000 signatures today to the Secretary of State’s office. They only needed 110,000 names to earn a spot on the November ballot.

Miss The Debate? Here Are Some Video Highlights

This could have been a dull debate, if not for Allen Alley.

Alley, the only Republican willing to show up, brought some humor and personality to the event. But more importantly, he brought some balance with his more conservative views on the environmental issues facing Oregon.

Former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury took up the left flank, clearly opposing LNG in Oregon, the current plans for a new I-5 bridge, and calling for an early closure to the coal-fired Boardman Power Plant.

John Kitzhaber, the former Governor, came in somewhere closer to the middle. But most of the time, he and Bradbury were not far apart.

There’s been a crazy response to Tuesday night’s debate on environmental issues among three of the top candidates for Governor.

The Oregon Sierra Club says nearly 1000 people have signed up. But the Smith Ballroom at PSU, where the debate will be held, holds only 650 people. Organizers are setting up overflow rooms where you can watch a live video feed if you can’t get into the ballroom.
