Imagine a line of 30 or more people, standing in the cold, just waiting for the doors to open at a ranch supply store in Redmond. What’s the big attraction? The Bend Bulletin says they all showed up to buy baby chicks and will raise them for the eggs.
The paper says Central Oregonians are showing a new interest in growing their own food. Sales of seeds are up at local nurseries and the Extension Service is hearing from more people who want to learn more about gardening.
