A group of Seattle fourth-graders are leading the charge to name the Olympic Marmot the state’s official “Endemic Mammal”. The bill has passed the Washington Senate and making progress in the House. Rainier, Oregon has the best tasting water in the state, according to an industry group. The town’s Public Works Department picked up four awards at the annual Oregon Association of Water Utilities convention. That’s pretty good considering some of the problems they’ve had over the past couple of years. Public Works started manually operating the water system around the clock to make eveything went smoothly and apparently it’s working. From the Longview Daily News.
