Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality has given preliminary approval for the continued operation of seven dams along the Clackamas River. The dams are owned and operated by PGE for hydropower.
The notice from DEQ says the dams biggest environmental impact is that they raise the temperature of the river, and that has negative consequences for salmon. But, it also calls on PGE to take “all practical steps” to reduce water temps.
A public hearing is scheduled for April 16:
Time: 6pm
Where: DEQ Northwest Region Office
4th Floor Conference Room A/B
2020 SW 4th Avenue
